The Pet Pantry is a pet food and supply bank for low income pet owners in Franklin County that operates much like a food bank for people. Any person receiving public assistance who needs temporary assistance with feeding their pets or who needs supplies such as collars, beds or cat litter can receive services from the SPCA Pet Pantry.
Since 2006 we have been providing food and supplies on an as needed basis to our SNIP Fund clients. The SPCA PET PANTRY was created in the fall of 2013 and officially opened its’ doors in January 2014. Our Pantry is stocked by donations of pet food and supplies from the citizens and businesses of Franklin County and the surrounding areas.
We assist low income families with some of their pet care burdens, such as providing adequate food so they can keep and care for their beloved four-legged family members and not face the hard choice of feeding themselves or their pets. Furthermore, we know that by keeping family pets in their homes and not entering the shelter system, we are preventing animals from being unnecessarily euthanized and preventing unwanted litters of puppies and kittens.
At this time, we cannot serve everyone that needs our help. However, our goal is to increase the number of clients and pets to include every needy household in the county. But we cannot do this without your help.
Please contact us if you are interested in helping us feed hungry pets in Franklin County.
